Wash your child’s mouth with lukewarm saltwater and apply a pack of ice to his/her face against the affected area. See your Doncaster East dentist immediately.
If your child’s tooth becomes loose from an injury, call your Doncaster East dentist right away. While waiting to go to your dentist, let your child rinse his/her mouth with lukewarm saltwater. Do not attempt to put back the tooth in its socket. It may affect the growth of the developing tooth under the gums.
Clean the area with clean, wet gauze and place a cold compress to reduce swelling. If there’s bleeding, apply slight pressure on the affected area for 10 minutes or until the bleeding stops.
One of our main goals is, by teaching topics like brushing, using fluoride mouthwashes, flossing, and proper dental hygiene, to help your children achieve and maintain optimal dental health.
Brush your child’s teeth daily as soon as his/her first tooth emerges. It is advised to use a soft-bristled toothbrush to brush your child’s teeth.
Use a pea-sized amount of fluoride toothpaste when the child is old enough to not swallow it. Children are advised to brush their teeth two times a day. We recommend parents supervise their children to guide them and make sure they’re brushing properly.
With proper brushing, the plaque build-up from the inner, outer, and chewing surfaces of the teeth will be removed.
How to brush properly:
Flossing the teeth is as important as brushing them because it can remove plaque stuck between the teeth, where the bristles of a toothbrush can’t reach. As soon as a child grows two teeth, they need to start flossing them. A parent should floss the child’s teeth until he or she can do it alone and guide him/her when he’s/she’s already old enough to do so.
Parents are encouraged to monitor their children’s diet. To prevent food debris from sticking to teeth, children should eat sweets in moderation and brush their teeth more than 30 minutes after eating.
